If your goal is simply to extract code from an old PLC, you do not necessarily need MEDOC 2.4. Mitsubishi's newer software suites are backward-compatible.

MELSEC MEDOC (sometimes “MEDOC Plus”) is older Mitsubishi Electric PLC programming software used to communicate with and program MELSEC family PLCs (commonly A-series/A1, FX and some earlier FX variants). Version numbers commonly cited in forums and reseller listings include DOS-era 2.40 (often written 2.4 or 2.40) and a Windows FX-specific package (FX 1.x / FX-PCS/WIN). MEDOC 2.40 is typically a DOS application or early Windows-era utility distributed historically on CD with Mitsubishi PLCs or sold by authorized resellers.

Standard USB-to-RS232 adapters often fail in DOS emulation because the software requires direct hardware interrupt requests (IRQs). Specialized, industrially-rated FTDI-chipset adapters are usually required.
