"Biri Ka Mbiri" showcases Chief Oliver de Coque's mastery of traditional Igbo music, with infectious rhythms and melodies that are sure to get listeners dancing. The song features a perfect blend of traditional and modern instruments, creating a unique sound that appeals to both old and new fans of the musician.
: Oliver De Coque’s personal guitar picking mimics human conversation, dancing over a driving bassline.
Look for files encoded at 320kbps for the highest audio fidelity. Highlife music relies heavily on subtle guitar plucks and low-end percussion that get lost in low-quality (128kbps) files.
: De Coque uses the line "uwa sara k’ute" ("the world is spread out like a mat") to illustrate the vastness and shared nature of life.
To the uninitiated, "Biri Ka Mbiri" might just sound like a catchy rhythm. But for fans of Igbo Highlife, the song is a philosophical masterpiece.
For permanent ownership, the iTunes Store sells the track for $0.99 - $1.29. When you buy from iTunes, you get a legitimate 256kbps AAC file (which is superior to standard MP3 for iOS devices). Convert it to MP3 via your computer if needed.
De Coque’s signature clean, intricate, and melodic guitar picking anchors the entire track.
